Just to be clear, we do know that FACEIT have the ability to see our desktops.
WHY DO I NEED FACEIT ANTI CHEAT SOFTWARE
I'm not against anti-cheat methods in general, but, whether it was developed by a professional company or not, the moment any software demands administrative permissions and the software itself is designed to send screenshots or video to whatever server, then this definitiely a huge security risk.
Whether it was Valve, FACEIT, or any company that was implementing an anti-cheat, I specifically worry about the level of access that the anti-cheat requires. Call me paranoid, but I've followed general tech and IT stories for far too many years now that I just don't want to risk it. I love TF2 so much, but if Valve didn't change their mind and we were stuck with an intrusive anti-cheat, then genuinely I would shove TF2 into a VM if framerates were good enough (seemed kinda ok when I last checked in VM Workstation Player), or dual-boot specifically to play TF2. I'm not too sure why the CS:GO community didn't care about it (I'm not too aware of the CS:GO community), but believe me, if TF2 suddenly officially had implemented an anti-cheat like this, I'd definitely stand up against it. I was told that the CS:GO community already have a similar anti-cheat in place, yet they never caused a loud fuss over it. If you want to play on FACEIT servers and you literally only play games on your PC and do not login to personal social media websites and banking and stuff, then yeah the risk really doesn't matter for you, game on!! No need to read this post unless you are curious. Nothing against FACEIT personally, but this is more to do with computer security. Hey, just a casual player here, but I wanted to express some concerns about the FACEIT anticheat thing.
